Quartzite Countertops
Quartzite is another naturally occurring stone that is formed when quartz-rich sandstone is subjected to extreme amounts of heat and pressure. Some think that the beauty of quartzite is unmatched; definitely a head-turner! It typically comprises at least 97% pure quartz, making it even harder than granite.
Fully crystallized quartzites such as Taj Mahal are low maintenance and very scratch and stain resistant; however, some quartzites with a more “sandy” appearance can be more prone to staining since the sand particles have not fully crystallized, potentially allowing moisture to penetrate between the particles. We recommend sealing quartzite with a quartzite-specific sealer at least once a year.
